Mensa Kwami Tsedze holds a bachelor's degree in animal biology from the University of Lome, Togo, and a master's degree in ecology and ecosystem management at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal. His passion for environmental issues has seen him lead initiatives, as well as make publications in partnership with various organizations for more than a decade. In terms of his literary work, he has authored and contributed to several scientific articles published in world-renowned journals. Some of his work includes “Africa's Future, Guarding the Globe", "Toward a new pan Africanism, A brief description", and "Africa, Go Green! A New Initiative for the Continent's Youth to Become Leaders in the Global Environment Needs to Combine Activism with Knowledge, Research and Policy". To boost his knowledge in the said area, he has studied certificate courses such as environmental assessment of development policies and programs, economics and management of the environment and natural resources, and environmental rights and protection at Senghor University, Alexandria in Egypt. He aspires to continue contributing to the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems through science; technologies and the socio-economic transformation of the most dependent and vulnerable populations.
He has used his leadership skills to lead different environmental protection projects both nationally and internationally. In 2012 to 2013, he was the UNEP-TUNZA youth Ambassador in West Africa. He organized environmental workshops for about 5,000 young people. In the following year, 2014, he was the One Young World ambassador in Togo. In 2016, he was elected as the National Vice President of UNEP-Ecosystem Based Adaptation for Food Security Assembly platform (UNEP-EBAFOSA TOGO). During his tenure in the assembly, he led the implementation of a project that aimed to impart agroforestry, soil regeneration and agribusiness skills among young people in Togo. To date, through this program, 5,000 young people have been trained in different aspects of national and regional policies of environment and sustainability. From 2015 to 2019 He has worked as director of programs for the NGO Jeunes Verts Togo, where he mainly carries out public advocacy actions, environmental control of national policies and environmental education actions. In December 2020 he joined the staff of Earth Guardians as Regional Director for Africa and co-coordinator of the regional directors program. In January 2022, he became the Director of Africa Programs, a position that he has held to this day. His responsibilities are the coordination and supervision of Africa Crews and project tracking and project management, project grant managing and administration, training coordination, and building networks.
