We are deeply grateful to the founder Tamara Roske and her family for their groundbreaking leadership and vision that birthed this organization. As Tamara transitions to new ventures, the mission will continue to be realized through the hard work of the staff and crews. In order to keep moving forward, the Board of Directors of Earth Guardians is pleased to announce Catherine Mongella as our new Executive Director.

10,000 Trees Project
Earth Guardians Zambia is planting 10,000 trees and installing 100 community/school gardens. The reason for this is for reforestation purposes in areas impacted negatively by deforestation and to fight climate change. We plan to plant 10,000 trees in all parts of Zambia! We also are helping families exposed to poverty by COVID19 to plant gardens to enable them to have access to nutritious food.

In May, Earth Guardians published a blog post about the Cowichan Valley Earth Guardians crew. That post detailed the actions these inspired young activists had been taking to support Wet'suwet'en land defenders, their learning about regenerative permaculture design and their plans, many of which were put on pause because of the COVID-19 pandemic, for the months to come.

During the midst of a major global shutdown, we witnessed CO2 emissions dropping in the atmosphere, animals roaming city streets, and a decrease in water pollution. Following the coronavirus pandemic, we thought there could potentially be higher dependence on fossil fuels, as companies desperately try to earn back the profit losses they saw during the last two months. For that reason, it is important that we keep our vision on the sustainable society we truly wish to create for future generations.

How Divestment Helps Black Communities
IN ORDER TO HAVE CLIMATE JUSTICE WE MUST STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE BLACK LIVES MATTER MOVEMENT.
We know that climate change is one of the greatest issues of our time, which is why it is important to take action towards climate justice to ensure a just, equitable and livable planet for future generations. We must begin by dismantling the root causes of the climate crisis— the systems of oppression that have led to widespread social injustice and ecological catastrophe. Racism, sexism, colonialism, and classism are only a few of the corrupt ideologies that have acted as a cancer within our institutional power structures for centuries.
